I was wondering if you could help me out with a issue i'm having with my 9mm carbine. I think all that is needed is the chamber needs to be reamed. When a round seats in the chamber under bolt pressure it crimps, roll crimps, the round. Since I saw the quality of work you did on your barrel I thought I would ask.
Nice work!

Most semi auto pistol rounds headspace off of the case mouth. It sounds to me like your headspace is too short, and needs to be checked with some gauges.

Absolutely correct, that is my concern. The crimp is so sever that I question the reliability and then the accuracy of the fired round. Another thing that makes me think it is a chamber size issue is that the crimp only occurs on approximately 40 to 50% of the rim. Not sure how that is possible without cnc machined being out of wack. And I don't know enough about how the chamber is made, but I doubt is made with anything else but a bit on a lath. Given my limited experience on what it takes to mill a chamber.

Can you remove the barrel and have a cast made of the chamber. That would let you see if your chamber is cut correctly.

I think that is the best way to approach this. Yes, very easy to remove barrel and get to chamber.

I would recommend consulting with a professional, I'm just an idiot with a lathe in my garage. That being said, check the depth of your chamber by putting an average length unloaded case into the chamber (.746"). The case should protrude .125" +- a few thou. That will tell you if the chamber is cut to the correct depth. If that is correct then you have another issue. If that is not correct then you probably need, at the very least, the chamber recut. Again, probably best not to take advice from me, but good luck, hope you can get it figured out.

This is really impressive that you did this all yourself. Hell, I feel accomplished when I'm simply able to hammer in a rear sight on my Glocks.
Real nice work.
