I dont use H110, but I watched my father-in-law do something I hadn't seen before. When loading precision loads with fine powders for rifle and handgun, he cut long strips of paper and inserted them between primer and case during seating so that the flash hole was covered. This was to prevent powder from filling the primer during handling and transport, theoretically reducing standard deviation. We were developing a 330 grain 44mag load using 17 grains of H110 for the Elmer Keith shoot in Louisiana this May.
Wondered if any of you guys had heard or tried it. I know that shotgun primers are sealed/covered, but hadn't heard of it being used on rifles and handguns.

No ignition issues and hits on 18x24" steel (target size for Elmer Keith shoot) at 300 were regular and predictable from an iron sighted Smith Model 29 once the hold was established.

Not offhand, but over the knees while sitting and leaned up against a post or tree. Fun stuff.
And the Model 29 isn't exactly stock either. Has a DX barrel and is shimmed and tuned. When you miss you know it's you...

When you miss you know it's you... Elmer would be OK with the shooting positions but he would insist on a stock handgun. Fun none the less...

Probably easier to just not use H110.
