I'm sorry I didn't get to this yesterday, we got tied up at work & I'm just now getting home (1:00 am). Never the less...
On April 19th., 243 years ago the British army thought they'd confiscate the firearms & back powder of the local Colonials. Their answer was a hearty "fork you" and somewhere in the mix, someone fired the shot heard around the world. Looking back, that shot changed the history of the world. I ask that everyone reading this take a few minutes to think about those events, the courageous men who'd had enough, and the sacrifice they made for us.

Thanks rb. I suspect the vast majority of people who have heard the phrase have no idea what the British were attempting to confiscate from the colonists. Good thing the colonists had arms which were equal to the military arms of the day otherwise we might be British subjects still.

"The shot heard 'round the world." - Allegedly the phrase comes from the opening stanza of Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Concord Hymn." According to the poem, the shot occurred at the North Bridge in Concord where the first British troops were killed. Though over time the phrase's meaning has become more loose and now usually refers to the shot fired at Lexington.
I find it very interesting how the American Colonies were able to defeat the most powerful military in the world.

And it had to be done twice--with the war of 1812-- also known as "The second war of American Independence)

By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to April's breeze unfurled; Here once the embattled farmers stood; And fired the shot heard round the world.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Concord Hymn"

Happy Patriot's day, everyone! The "official" observance of this day was actually on Monday, yep, tax day (oh, the irony!). Never the less, there's supposed to be some pretty nice weather this weekend, I hope you all can get out and fire a couple shots in honor of our founding fathers.

Tomorrow is Patriot Day! (Are you guys seeing that it's one of my favorite days?) Please remember the sacrifices our forefathers made to keep our God given rights, they meant for the American people to live free. Tomorrow I'll be at the range celebrating and honoring the day, I hope to see you there too!

Our nation seems to be in a state of decay and history may need to repeat in order for our republic to survive. Hope you had fun at the range.

Today is the 246th anniversary of the British march on Lexington and Concord to confiscate arms and ammunition from uppity peasant colonials who refused to know their place.
Never forget the choice to stand and resist on April 19th meant around 50 Americans died violently and painfully, shot with muskets and impaled on bayonets.
They never got to see April 20th.
Freedom is always expensive.

Happy 247th. Patriot Day! We all have issues to deal with through the day, but please take a minute to reflect on the sacrifices that were made. Brave Patriots stood up & told the government "no, you're not going to do this". Over the next several years, the ultimate price was paid by many, but it created the best country in history.

248 years??? Where does the time go? Yes, it's Patriot Day. Please take a minute and think of the sacrifices our founding fathers made to guarantee the freedom and prosperity of United States citizens. Some walked away with just a wound. Some lost all their possessions and fortune. Some gave their lives. What are you willing to give?
