Colt is now offering the Python revolver with Hogue rubber grips and a bead blast finish along with a reduced MSRP. A revival of an interesting marketing ploy -- similar to new trucks. Ford F150 "King Ranch" trim is the top of the line Python with walnut grips and semi gloss stainless finish -- Ford F150 XL trim is the Python with rubber grips and bead blast finish. In the 1960's Colt did the same thing with bright high polish blue finish Python and then offered the Colt "Trooper" which had the same action of the Python but less "pizazz". Smith and Wesson also offered a lower grade gun over the flagship Model 27 .357 Magnum revolver which had a high polish blue finish with fine checkering on the top strap. The Model 28 "Highway Patrolman" was the same gun with a dull finish and no checkering and a lower price. The acquisition of Colt by CZ is offering shooters more choices than before. Colt now offering the Python with 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2.5 inch barrel lengths. It's a good time to be a "revolverero" www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/10/23/colt-pythons-hogue-grips/
