The National Pistol Matches at Camp Perry Ohio are going on this weekend and wrap up tomorrow afternoon. The Camp Perry matches are run by the NRA and the CMP and have been going on since 1907. The game is "Conventional Pistol" also known as "Precision Pistol" using Rimfire and Centerfire--all shooting is done with the strong hand only at 50 yards and 25 yards. A typical "2700" match consists of 90 shots with the .22 pistol, 90 for the Centerfire pistol and 90 for the .45 caliber pistol. Total of 270 shots fired possible 2700-270X. Since the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt no one has "cleaned" the match--the elite shooters can score a 2650 but no one has ever cleaned it. Here are some links to check and track results--the US Army Marksmanship Unit shooters coming to Cheyenne next month are in the top ten ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=match&task=edit&match=14105competitions.nra.org/championship-results/nra-national-outdoor-rifle-pistol-championships-results.aspx
