I was talking with Adam Sokolowski of the US Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) about the upcoming August 2018 "Steamboat Challenge" NRA Action Pistol Regional at Otto Rd Range. He said the team is open to conduct a handgun shooting clinic after the team arrives and before the big match starts.
The shooting clinic would be FREE and open to everyone and all skill levels. It would be an open forum-- bring your equipment, questions, concerns, things you'd like to improve on etc etc. and AMU members would be available to offer coaching and advice. Live fire coaching included on any issues you would like additional help on.
The clinic would be about two to three hours and conducted on a weekday afternoon most likely Wednesday or Thursday depending on when the team arrives in Cheyenne.
This is a great opportunity to improve individual handgun skills and the price is right!
I'm gauging interest to see if I should pursue this further. If you're willing to participate in the proposed clinic reply to this thread or send me a PM. Thanks!

What an opportunity! AMU shooters, handgun or rifle, are amazing to see in action.

Very interested. Can't guarantee attendance at this time, but I likely can make it work.

That's really nice of them to share their time and expertise for free. I'll have to try and make it.

Sounds like a great opportunity. I think it would be really great if they could offer something along the lines of a structured 1 hour clinic and then have an open forum after. I'd pay for something like that.
I'd be interested but would depend on the time they offer it.

We will be there. Learned so much from them last year and Bridger thought they were the best thing since sliced bread and still talks about them and Ryan Franks who is his idol along with Andy... And wants a revolver like his.

I’d be all for attending something like this! I’m always open to learning some things, especially from the AMU folks!

Attached is an article in Army Times about SFC Adam Sokolowski winning the Bianchi Cup! Adam edged out the great Doug Koenig by only a few X's. Quite an achievement in what is arguably the toughest competition in the handgun shooting sports. www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2018/06/07/army-shooter-makes-history-in-national-action-pistol-shooting-match/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ebb%2008.06.18&utm_term=Editorial%20-%20Early%20Bird%20BriefAdam and the entire AMU cadre are great ambassadors for the Army and the shooting sports. So -- the National Action Pistol Champion and the AMU team will be coming to Cheyenne to compete in the Steamboat Challenge NRA Action Pistol Regional and Wyoming State Championship on August 18 & 19 at the Otto Rd Shooting Range. As stated earlier Adam and the AMU team would like to conduct a shooting clinic before the weekend match. The clinic is FREE for Volunteers and Competitors of the weekend match and open for all others for only $20.00 with all proceeds going to Otto Rd Range to promote and support the shooting sports. This is a great opportunity to meet the AMU Champions up close and personal and have them help you out with any and all questions and practices with handgun marksmanship, equipment, drills and exercises, mental mechanics of shooting etc. The lifeblood of a big match like Steamboat are the volunteers that help out with RO duties, scoring targets, changing out targets and overall range operations. Volunteers who help for the match not only get the AMU shooting clinic, lunch and match shirt, but also get trips to the prize table and are entered into the drawing for three guns I'm giving away (names in the drawing are only volunteers and competitors). Ruger American Rifle in .308 Win with Vortex Scope, Advanced Armament Corp (AAC) Remington Model 7 threaded for suppressor, 16 inch barrel and in caliber .300 Blackout, and a Remington 870 with cantilever barrel 20 gauge rifled slug. Additionally, if a volunteer desires to compete and shoot in the match they may do so FREE of charge but must shoot the match on Friday August 17. If you desire to volunteer to help out send me a PM on this forum or you can e-mail me at arayland@charter.net or call me at 307-640-0396. Thanks!
