Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedWas my lucky day today when I wandered into Otto Road Shooting Range and Chey Cast Bullets. Seems as if they are looking to expand their bullet line with coated bullets. And lucky me I was provided a sample pack of 124 gr truncated cone 9mm, sized to .356. I scurried home and got right to loading these great looking bullets. Never having reloaded coated bullets I used my standard load for the same uncoated bullet, and one load just slightly different. I chronographed my standard lead load and 10 rounds with coated bullets the results were almost identical. The attached targets show that I was pleased with the results. Click on the small image to enlarge. Now this was not a real extensive test but it was enough for me to be sold. Smoke was appreciably less, miss that old lead lube smell but a guy could get used to the somewhat different smell and a bit less smoke. I do believe they are still a few months out of offering to the shooting public. Should be just about the time weather turns better and serious shooting begins. One other note, another lucky shooter who stopped by brought along some coated bullets he got from another outfit to compare. A few whacks with a hammer on the nose of each showed the Chey Cast coating was solid while the other coating cracked and came off the bullet. Will this make a difference; I don't know, but it was nice to see how well affixed the Chey Cast coating was/ [

Interesting..... A couple weeks ago I bought some coated bullets from a vendor in Colorado Springs to try out. So far, I'm liking them & planned on ordering more. I'm anxious to try the Chey-Cast version.

The coating is an Australian product and its applied after bullets are cast. Exciting news that Chey-Cast bullets is looking to expand their lineup to include coated bullets. Coated bullets will cost a little more than standard lead but MUCH less than copper jacketed bullets and offer comparable performance. I've been shooting coated bullets at major matches with excellent results---
VERY little smoke compared to standard cast lead with lube--especially when shooting at indoor ranges
CLEANER Gun--and if you have a gun with a compensator or "muzzle brake" coated bullets won't crap up the port holes
CLEANER Reloading Dies
CLEANER Hands
