I filed down my slide release and need to coat the bare metal. Does anyone have any suggestions that might work?

If you aren't into that ceracoting stuff, I would rattle-can it with some high-temp paint you use on engine blocks, sand for smoothness, recoat as necessary, and have a coke. Edit to add: For reference, the fluted part of this barrel was painted that way 6 or 7 years ago. imgur.com/a/uRmFAV6

I filed down my slide release and need to coat the bare metal. Does anyone have any suggestions that might work? For small things like this I just use instant blue. Clean the part well with alcohol, warm it up with a hair dryer, give it a couple swabs let it dry and the coat it with gun oil. Never gets blue like original but then I am not fussy about it. Good luck...
