If you use one of the electronic powder dispenser /scale combination, such as the RCBS Charge Master Then you have found, that all to frequently, the charge dumped into the pan is over the desired weight and this requires that you remove some from the pan and then trickle back up to the proper weight, wasting time and is quite aggravating . Well there is a simple answer to decrease this problem by about 90% for most powders.
First, the cause of the problem, is that the feed tube has a spiral groove that runs all the way to the end of the tube, to move the power to the pan. As the powder gets close to the desired weight in the pan, the motion of the tube is decreased in smaller and smaller increments, as it approaches the desired weight.
What happens that causes the over charge is that some of the powder gets stuck in the in the groove and builds up at the end of the tube causing it to dump more powder then is needed, causing the over charge.
The solution to minimizing this is to go to MC Donald’s ( this is not a Joke ) and get one of their large soda straws cut of about a 3/4's of an inch and slid this piece into the end of the tube. The smooth surface of the straw allows the powder to smooth out as it approaches the end of the tube and prevents the build up and over charges and improves consistency. ..

I find that the slurpy straws work really well there a bit thicker.

I use a charge master and load bullseye for my 45 and 44 mag and have never had the problem you describe. The only thing that I can think of that may be the cause, might be static binding it together or some contaminant. Do you use anything to clean your charger if so it might be leaving some kind of residue. do you wipe it with dryer sheets to eliminate the static, if so use only used dryer sheets other wise you will get a build up of the stuff they put on them.

Accurate shooter did a write-up about the straw trick, and recommended notching the straw's tip to help separate the kernels. bulletin.accurateshooter.com/tag/rcbs-chargemaster/I have yet to find a digital scale that will hold a zero for longer than ten charges. Is this typical and everyone is taring the pan after five charges? I currently have an ibalance 101, recommended by other shooters but I'm not sold on it. The 5-0-5 is going back to RCBS as well to get adjusted. It's a full two grains off if I don't use check weights to zero it out. Drives me nuts to go through my dropped charges and be off by .2-.3 grains. (verified by another digi-scale and 5-0-5 scale.) Yet, the check weights measure fine.
