The 2016 Bianchi Cup first round competition is complete--Otto Road Range shooters Justin Clark. John Granner and Andy Rayland traveled to Columbia Missouri for the 37th NRA Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championship.
This years match featured 210 competitors from the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Japan, Italy, Netherlands, and Barbados.
This year there has been a format change with the top 16 overall shooters, top 4 metallic sights division shooters, top 4 Production shooters, top 4 senior shooters and top 4 lady shooters advancing into the Colt Championship round on Saturday. The Championship round will require competitors to fire the course again and the the combined scores with the first round will determine the overall winner for the Bianchi Cup and the overall winner in the Metallic and Production divisions and Senior/Lady categories.
I am pleased to announce that Justin Clark finished in 4th place in the Production Division with a great score of 1836-117X and will advance to the Colt Championship round on Saturday. Justin joins Mike Glasser and Adam Sokolowski from the US Army's elite Marksmanship unit along with ""TGO" (The Great One) Rob Leatham. Very distinguished company! Well done Justin! (Justin shoots a Glock-34 9mm pistol) Justin had to overcome significant delays in his Barricade and Plate match due to equipment malfunctions. The temperature was in the high 80's with humidity no shade and he had to stand and wait until the equipment was repaired and he still prevailed!
John Granner competing in his first Bianchi Cup competition came in 3rd place Marksman classification with a 1547-71X. John G. has only been shooting competitions for about one year and he did a great job at his first Bianchi Cup competition. He had solid results in 3 of 4 events with only the falling plates event giving him lots of trouble. John shoots a Springfield XDM 5.25 in 9mm.
Andy Rayland fired a perfect 480-38X on the Barricade Event in the Senior Open Division with Smith & Wesson M64 K-Frame .38 caliber revolver. Had problems in the Falling Plate match leaving 5 plates scoring a 430-43X which hurt big time in overall standings. Notwithstanding some difficulties he finished the match "above the fold" in Senior Category 12th out of 33 Seniors with a score of 1822-119X.
The Colt bChampionship Round will be conducted on Saturday starting at 8:30 AM. I will update the finals when complete.
