For a couple years now I've seen people mention on various forums that they've been using homemade case lube. I finally tried it and it KICKS ASS. A quick Google search will produce the basic recipe of one ounce of 100% liquid lanolin oil and anywhere from 8-16 ounces of isopropyl alcohol (99%). Most people recommended 12 ounces & that's what I tried. I bought a spray bottle at Walmart for 98 cents that has a 32 ounce capacity and mixed a double batch - 2 ounces of lanolin & 24 ounces of alcohol. Give it a good shake & coat you brass like you'd do when using RCBS Case Slick, Hornady One Shot, or Dillon spray lube. The lanolin is supposed to be available at healthfood & drug stores, but I ordered it from Amazon & the alcohol you can get anywhere, even Walmart. The cost savings is staggering. RCBS Case Slick (what I used to use was $2.25-3.00 per ounce, depending on where you buy it. The lanolin is $6.50-8.00 per 4 ounce bottle & I only used 2 ounces to make 26 ounces of case lube. The alcohol I already had at the house for cleaning & degreasing but I think it's around $8 a quart. So to sum it all up, for a small investment, I won't have to buy case lube for a LONG time.
