in the past I primarily used W231 for my .45 and 9mm loads. It has been over a year since I have found any and have been using accurate #2 and bullseye instead. I use a Lyman powder thrower and a Hornady electronic digital scale. I set my thrower for 3.9 grains of bullseye and for about 20 throws I can get several 3.9 a few 3.8 and a few 4.0, I am happy with that slight variation. However then it seems the more I throw the more I begin to mysteriously move up. I start getting some 3.9, very few if any 3.8 a lot of 4.0 and more 4.1 the. 4.2. I readjust the thrower back to the majority of throws being 3.9 but then it begins to move up again. With W231 I could set the powder thrower and it was good for hundreds of throws and never needed to be readjusted. Same problem exists when I use Accurate#2. The thrower is going on 40 years old, but when I take it apart the brass plates are tight the drum is snug and I can find nothing wrong. So any ideas out there as to why my thrower wants to climb. I should also say I have tried with and without a powder baffle, same results.

It sounds like the powder is settling, and there's nothing you can do about it except readjust for the denser packed powder. Anyone else have an idea?

I just re-read your post & realized you're using a powder baffle. That should break up the settling. Maybe change the height/position of the baffle?

Did some searching on the web and learned that static could cause inconsistent throws. Rubbed the tube and metal drum down with a dryer sheet as recommended and seems to have helped. I threw some rifle loads today using stick powder and was amazed at how consistent they were. Will try Bullseye in the next few days and see how that works. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

Just loaded 200 rounds of 9mm using bullseye and the Lyman thrower after. Dryer sheet massage. Like magic, the throws are consistent and within .1 each side of my target weight.

Dryer sheet works well with some powders i use,I recently ran into a problem myself with bullseye .I use the rcbs charge master as after 20-30 loads the powder packed in so tight, that the screw wouldnt turn anymore to throw charges. The worst came when i tried cleaning the powder out i opened the drain spout and once again packed solid with bullseye never had that problem before.
