Anyone have a preferred read on shooting, specifically practice? Time to shoot isn't as easy to come by as it used to be, and being able to have more focused practice each time I do manage to get out and shoot is more important than ever. So, any ideas?
We're going by old-school rules here: Youtube and Wikipedia do not count!
While we're at it, any specific drills you guys find useful almost every time you shoot? Bill drills for life? El Pres or die? Dot torture or bust?

Good question.
All the kinds. I have a good start on handgunning, but it's only a start. I am a poor rifleman with regard to field shooting and most of the finer points of long-distance shooting. Learned that one on-the-clock last Saturday at the Magpul match.

Here are a couple of drills that I usually shoot once a week:
2 @ 25 - Two shots fired at 25 yards with par time of 2 seconds
25 yard Bill Drill - Six shoots at 25 yards with par time of 4 seconds
Bullseye Rapid Fire COF - Five shoots fired one-handed from the low ready at 25 yards with a par time of 10 seconds
I usually use an IPSC target, AP-1 target, or B-8 bullseye target depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. I caution against increasing the par-time and instead recommend decreasing the distance if the drills prove to challenging.

Practical Shooters Guide by Marcus Blanchard. It's a long range shooting book.
