Good article from RECOIL magazine about all the external and internal changes to the soon to be released Glock Generation 5 pistols. Some very good refinements--notably ditching the polygonal barrel so one can shoot cast lead bullets without having to buy another barrel. www.recoilweb.com/inside-the-glock-gen-5-129141.html

So I got some trigger time with a Gen 5 19 today. I have to say that the trigger is actually really nice. It's a little heavy but a 4-4.5# striker spring should fix that. I honestly wouldn't even bother with any after markets parts for it. I liked it that much.
The gun was also very easy to shoot accurately and quickly. We were shooting it a lot at 50 yards and even some shots a 100 yards. I don't know if it's mechanically more accurate than previous generations but it almost seemed as if I was able to hit the 50 yard target easier than I could with my Gen 4 34. Also the stock sites were actually not complete trash.
There has been some complaints about the half moon cut out on the front of the grip. I didn't notice any interference with my hands at all when shooting.
It seemed that Glock beefed up most of the weak and failure points of the gun. No more trigger return spring to break, the slide stop is extremely beefy, and the striker tip also seems reinforced.
I'm half tempted to go out and buy one for myself and compete with it 100% stock.

Thanks for the review, it means more coming from a "known quality" rather than some paid gun writer.

Good review JC--happy to read that Glock has finally decided to put a "decent" set of standard sights on the Gen-5 pistol. Gotta hand it to Glock--they're not resting on their laurels.

I thought the complaint was that they are made of plastic. Aren't they still plastic? Unless you get the one with the factory night sights?
I could be wrong on that, just curious.

Yeah they're still plastic but just not completely worthless like the previous generations. They changed up the notch on the rear sight so you can line up the sights like you're supposed to do. They're not anything special by any means. Just useable unlike years past.
