I've got a double action only FN HP-DA. Don't shoot it much but it sure is neat. Very smooth trigger.
I would also like to get one of those non-NFA HiPowers with the wooden, detachable stock and volley sights. Because.

The custom Hi Powers made by Cylinder and Slide, Novaks, and most recently Nighthawk Custom are works of Handgun art. First rate stuff.
I remember back in the early 70's the Hi Power was the only game in town for a hi cap 9mm auto. It was featured in some popular movies of that day which helped bolster sales-- the 1972 film "Serpico"- about the true life story of NYPD cop Frank Serpico fighting police corruption had a scene where Serpico went to the famed Jovinos gun shop in NYC and upgraded from revolver to a HI Power. The gun clerk said "Its go a 13 shot "Clip" --what are you expecting an Army" and Serpico replied no--just a Division" LOL
Even John Wayne used a Hi Power--in 1974's "McQ" which featured the Duke in one of only a few Police roles for him also fighting police corruption this time in Seattle. The Duke also mowed down the bad guys with a suppressed MAC10 SMG in that one.

I've had the pleasure of handling and shooting a Novak HiPower. Incredibly nice gun. Was NP3'd and had the slide top and rear stippled. There's a YouTube video out there of my father in law shooting it for SWAT Magazine.
And talking about father in laws and John Wayne, he is an unabashed fan. In addition to the pair of Smith .44s he carried as a Sheriff, his "patrol rifle" was a suppressed Mac10. Now I think I know why...
