When shooting, the dot tends to jump around way more than I like.
With shooting handguns you grip hard with your shooting hand and even harder with your support hand. Is it the same concept with carbines?
Pull the rifle into your shoulder with your shooting hand and even more so with your support hand?
What's the proper technique?

A long time ago I went to the H&K Academy in Chantilly, VA and attended the MP5 Operators course. 40 hours of nothing but shooting MP5's in various configurations including the notorious and very cool "briefcase gun" (never though i'd get tired of shooting a MP5 but at the end of the week I had enough LOL!) The basic shooting technique they taught me was to mount and push the gun into to the shoulder pocket and imagine you are wringing out a wet towel. Get the gun tight into the shoulder then apply torque to the pistol grip and counter torque to the hand guard. Real solid hold and when shooting three shot bursts the groups were tight.

I agree with adr, thats how I was taught to do it, however....in my unique situation I dont have much control over that. I have taken more of the mechanical approach to a few of the uppers I have. Basically, adjustable gas block is a must, and a really good brake is also a must to keep the muzzle down. Surefire breaks are some of the best for keeping the muzzle down along with a few others (a bunch of new companies have sprung up over the last 2 years that make great brakes . Also a good balanced buffer weight and spring help to make the cycling action smoother. And my best advancement with keeping the rifle smooth is reload some 55 fmj loads that are running around 280 or 2700 fps, then it shoots like a 22

Right on, thanks.
I suppose shooting the gun more than once a year would also be helpful lol

Yep, probably best if you just don't practice.
